When Faith Feels Scary: Stepping into the Light This Halloween

This Halloween, reflect on courage, faith, and speaking your truth from the heart—even when it feels scary.

Halloween week always brings a swirl of energy—costumes, shadows, and stories that blur the line between light and dark. But this year, I’ve been feeling that theme in a deeper way. The world feels divided. There’s a tug between what lifts us and what tries to pull us down. The current political climate mirrors that push and pull—the dance between integrity and compromise, truth and illusion.

When I’ve shared my perspective online, I’ve been told I’m “not spiritual” for speaking out. But spirituality isn’t about being silent or pretending everything is love and light. It’s about coming from the heart, even when your truth shakes the room.

God didn’t give us a voice to hide it.
Spirit didn’t plant our convictions for us to bury them.

I’ll be honest—it’s not always easy for me. I question myself: Am I saying too much? Am I pushing too hard? Will people walk away? But every time I sit in stillness, I feel my soul whisper, Speak anyway. Speak with love. Speak from Me.

Maybe you’re feeling that nudge too. Maybe it’s not about politics at all. Maybe it’s about a toxic relationship you need to step away from, a habit you know is holding you back, or a change that scares you because it means stepping into the unknown.

Whatever your “scary” looks like right now—
Let your heart be your lantern.
Open it. Listen. Then step forward in faith.

Because sometimes the bravest thing you can do is keep walking toward the light, even when the shadows grow long.

Journaling Prompt:

Where in my life am I being called to speak or act from my heart, even if it feels scary?
